Scholarship Opportunities

Scholarship Exam - January 9, 2010 9AM
Union Catholic will be hosting the Class of 2014 Scholarship Exam on Saturday, January 9th at 9:00 am. Students interested in taking the Union Catholic Scholarship Exam may contact Betsy Thornton at bthornton@unioncatholic.org. Over the last several years, Union Catholic has awarded over $150,000 in academic scholarships based on the results of this exam.

Eighth grade students taking the exam should arrive by 8:45 am and bring two #2 pencils. No calculators are permitted. The exam will be over by 12:30 pm. Students may be dropped off and pick-up up by the front entrance. The cost of the exam is $25 and may be paid the morning of the exam. In the event of inclement weather, please call 908.889.1600 and listen to the recording.

Merit Scholarships
Merit Scholarships are awarded to incoming 8th grade students with outstanding performance on the COOP exam and excellent academic history.

Principal Awards
Any incoming registered freshman student who finishes their 8th grade year as valedictorian or salutatorian is eligible to receive the Principal Award:
- Valedictorian Award - $8,000 award ($2,000 per year; renewable for four years)
- Salutatorian Award - $4,000 award ($1,000 per year; renewable for four years)

Endowed Scholarship Program (NEW)
Union Catholic is pleased to introduce the Endowed Scholarship Program for incoming students, beginning with the 2010-2011 academic school year.

The Endowed Scholarship Program recognizes applicants' commitments to extra-curricular activities, community service and ministry, demonstrated leadership abilities, and strength of character. Candidates for these scholarships must also be in good standing in both academics and behavior.

Endowed Scholarships will be awarded in the following areas:
- Fine & Performing Arts
- Ministry in Faith Community
- Forensics/Public Speaking
- Community Service
- Leadership
- Character (demonstrates honesty, courage, integrity)

Financial Aid
To receive financial assistance, families must follow a two-step process. Parents must first complete and mail the Scholarship fund for Inner City Children Financial Aid Application and then submit the Union Catholic Aid Application. The deadline for applying for financial aid is January 15, 2010. Forms may be found at m.unioncatholic.org/financialaid.
